PPL Media Ltd – Who we are

PPL Photo Agency celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2023. The library is divided into two specialist sections: Watersports & Sub-aqua, and Pictures of Yesteryear.

Watersports is one of the largest specialist libraries in the world with images dating back to the 1850s.  This includes a number of well-known archives and official resources.

As well as holding PPL’s historic sailing images, this archive also includes:

  • The America’s Cup from the first race in 1853 thru to current times.

  • Eileen Ramsay sailing archive – 1949 – 1970

To view and download images from PPL’s PhotoShelter portal, you must first register for a free sign-in at https://pplmedia.photoshelter.com/signup/.  You will then receive a verification email. If it does not arrive immediately, check your spam folder.

Then go to the PPL’s PhotoShelter web site  https://pplmedia.photoshelter.com/galleries  and Login.

To view images, click on ‘Galleries’ at the top of the page, and then click the collection ‘Watersports & Sub Aqua’ or ‘Pictures of Yesteryear’ or Eileen Ramsay archive  located on the left-hand side.  You can  then drop down the menu to reveal all the galleries

You can also locate individual yachts, races, scenes or people across all galleries  via the keyword search box (top left).   Boats are listed under boat name, owner/skipper and when known, sail No.
